Let me tell you everything I know about this car (which is not much). Probably the best condition unrestored body I have ever seen. Absolutley no rust in the floor or trunk. LS1 and 4l60 installed but never fired. N gas tank or grille. Guy has all the GM sheetmetal (no pics). He has interior but it needs total restoration. No idea about original motor/trans. It has a 12 bolt and front discs. I took pics of the numbers. Car had a A/C orginally. I am not really worried about all the numbers matching (rear/sterring box/ etc). Ok guys have at it. What do I offer?

An 03E trim tag with a VIN of 637745. Nothing. Thats a May VIN number.

I might be confused (I am certainly no expert) but I looked on the CRG and it shows VINS 637106 thru 13519 for April. That is only 1-2 weeks later that the 03E code. Below is info pulled from the CRG about date codes.

It isn't known what day of the month was used for logging the monthly production, or if the same system was used for all years.
It isn't certain where in the production process GM recorded this data.
Vehicles were NOT assembled in the exact order of VIN. For any given VIN selected as the nominal "last" for that month, it is likely that slightly lower or higher VINs might either still be in process, or might have already been assembled.
The cowl tag was attached 3-4 days before final assembly of the car was completed and build week dates did not always align exactly with calendar weeks

So what gives?

If the numbers work out, I'd say it's worth 25-35k. I would rather see a t56 behind that ls1.

The VIN on my car is 635134 and the tag is a 04C build.
My VIN is 2611 earlier with a tag that is 3 weeks later.
Hope this helps.

Those numbers don't work. My X66 was an 04C with vin 636321. How is an 03E going to have 637745?

Last Norwood VIN of for the Month of April 1969 is 637106 and would have been an 04L tag. Mine is about 50 VINs before that number and mines an 04L.

637745 is a May car, and it would have had either an 04L or 05A cowl tag on it.

You have two options with this car, its an 03E pace car with a swapped VIN number (VERY BAD), or its some kind of a V8 convertible with a swapped cowl tag (not as bad, but still hurts its value even over a base 307 convertible with matching tags) .

It might be a stolen car, maybe not, either way its lost a good amount of what ever value it would have had as a pace car.

I agree Mark, or maybe both. I'd be looking real close at the hidden vins on that one. The cowl tag does look like it's been off before.

Where are the hidden VINS on this car?

What is he asking for it? Looks like a super clean car. At worst figure its worth as much as a nice clean vert project car, plus the value of the LS1/trans. Scott

Brad -

If you have a higher resolution photo of the sixth one down, you might read the hidden VIN under the heater blower opening. I can see it, but no matter how much I enhance the pic you posted, I can't read it. It should be 9N637715, upside down.

You know, I tried that after I looked on the CRG site. I took the pics with my cell on its best setting. I tried to blow them up as well with no luck (where is CSI when you need them!!). My dad will go back tomorrow to look for the hidden VINs. If they match, I assume this helps to prove the case about the car, right?

Scott- I am not sure he wants to sell, but I would like to make an offer that is in the ball park

I was thinking pace car 25ish, non pace car 15ish.

Even with the same hidden vins they are telling you that the Z11 tag does not belong to that vin. Even not a Pace car 15K will probably piss him off if the body is good.

I agree with Charlie, ...15K for the solid body would be a deal, ...but I doubt he'd sell for that. Even assuming it's a cowl tag swap (only) and hidden vin's match vin tag that is 'clean', ...it's worth more than that.
