im sure this is one of the more noob-ish questions you have received lately, but i am posting because i have heard both. 67-68 camaro headlights retract upwards, towards the hood right? and 69 camaro headlights swivel inwards, the same way, except towards the grille instead of towards the hood? ive heard people say 69 headlights opened upwards and not inwards and 67-68 retract inwards and not upwards. can someone straighten me out? ive even heard 69 camaro headlights retract inwards horizontally, behind the grille! someone please help; im one confused person.

All the first generation 67-68-69 camaro's with the RS option, had hiding headlights that swept toward the radiator from the outer fender and settled into a space on the side of the headlamp itself.
The 67 used a complex system of relays and elec. motors. The 68 and 69's used vacuum power to move the doors instead.
The only cars with lights that opened upward to my recollection were Cougar, Thunderbird I think. I dont recall but think the Dodge, Plymouth type hiding models also swept toward the radiator but Im not sure.
Hope this helps, and welcome to Team Camaro

Welcome to Team Camaro. graemlins/waving.gif Where advice is only a short distance from your keyboard. As to the answer to your question, all 3 years of Camaros operate toward the center of the grill. That is they fold toward the middle of the grill. 1967 operated by 2 electric motors, one on each door assembly, and 1968 and 69 operated by vacuum off the motor. There was a vacuum tank resovior for the 68 and 69 cars that supplied the extra Umph, to kick the doors inward. If you need a question answered, please use the search under the heading above, this might prevent a delay in your answer to any questions you might have.

I have never owned a ford , well when I was 16 my dad gave me a ford truck but I told him I would rather walk or ride a bike but anyway ,,,
I give ford credit for one thing , those cougar's were made one way and one way only (WITH HIDEAWAY HEADLIGHTS) chevy should have done the camaro like that , it make's thing's so much easier nowaday's , for instance a guy looking for a 67 cougar to fix up can go look at any cougar he hears about and it will have hidden headlight's because that is the only way they were offered , but us camaro guy's have it tough , we find that ad in the paper that reads (1968 camaro RS for sale) and when we get there it is a standard grill car with two RS emblem's on it , (and the search go's on) it just makes it tough ,
