I have a 90% rust free 69, but the rear window channel has the typical rust. I am going to replace the lower panel, but I am concerned about the sides. I do not want to change the quarters just because of this. Any ideas? anyone offer repair panels for the reaer window?
Thanks

Fairly straight forward and common repair. Rusted metal is obviously removed & replaced with new sheetmetal. Requires approx. a 1 1/2" wide piece of 18-20ga bent into a 90 degree L-shape (3/4" per leg) then fitted/trimmed to fit the removed area. Once satisfied with the fit, it's butt welded to the sail & plugged or butted to the inside panel as you would do a patch panel. By the looks of it, you'll most likely have to remove most or all of the channel which will require adding the molding pins to the new metal.

I have to make the same repairs. I keep putting it off while I find excuses to do other things. The rot will be worse than you think it is once you get into it. But those edges next to the windows are straight without much if any curve to them. You can buy L channel from one of the tool suppliers online. TP tools has the angle. Probably some others do too. Or a welding fab shop can make you a few lengths from 20 gauge sheet. Cut it to length and size, then butt weld it in. Plug weld to the inner panel around the window through 5/16" holes. If you need to go past the bend to the quarter, you could hammer and dolly bend it over a piece of angle iron backup. It won't be a quick fix, but I think it will be better than imported metal.

That panel between the window and the trunk lid looks pretty bad too. You can buy that panel as a reproductiion part. That will save you some time compared with patching. Look up one of the site sponsers for that part.

I have the same repair to make. I was lucky enoungh to have 2 TC members that cut off the sails on their full quarters and sent them to me...

I'll give it a go. Luck would have it that I also do aircraft sheetmetal repair and we have all the tools to do this where I work.
