I had a 67 with a that I had to do the same to. I placed the outer side on a piece of soft 2x4 scrap and used a brass punch ground match to the same shape of the non damaged area. I did not use a hammer - I rubbed it in the channel to get the main shape back. I then used a rounded off paint stick to finish it off. Slow - but the end result was not detectable.

There is a place named Anodized Aluminum and Stainless in Caldwell ID phone number is 208-455-8558.
I am sending all my original stainless and aluminum from my 67 rs to be done there. It takes a couple of months to get your stuff back because they are back logged with work!

Mike at Metal Brite in Dayton, OH worked miracles on mine. He was recommended by another member here (John, aka hammerd), and he does fantastic work.

Tim, I did mine myself. It took lots of time and patience but it can be done. When I was done, I sent them out for a pro polish. They look new.

Tim I had to work out a few dents and dings on my 68 window molding. I hand made a die that fit the contour right next to the dings. I worked most of the dings out then slipped the die in place and gently tapped on the damaged area until I got it smooth. A small amount of light sanding and a buffing wheel and it looks good as new! Hope this helps. Kevin
