Any ideas on the best products and buffing wheel to use when polishing stainless trim?

I used a cotton wheel with jeweler's rouge for stainless. I got mine at a specialty hardware store, but you can get it at a Harley shop. I tapped out any dents with a wood dowel, filed smooth, sanded the file marks, sanded the sanding marks, etc, etc to about 1500 grit. Then I polished it on the wheel.

One bit of advice, that I wish someone had given me. After polishing, wrap each piece individually in newspaper for storage. I did not do that...I just put them in a box. The edges of one piece will scratch another piece. Now I'll have to buff (and maybe sand) the scratches out, again!!

This site seems to have pretty good info on polishing compounds. Tripoli, rouge and others all have different uses. I've used a white compound (Dico wr-1) on stainless with pretty good success.

I got my buffing wheels and compound at Sears hardware. Everything worked well. I had to clean up some dings and deep scratches also. Just take your time. When all was done, I finish polished with some Mothers just for the fun of it.
