Any ideas/opinions on a 1972 Nova SS, All original 1 elderly owner california car, original 350 engine w/cali. smog all intact, factory air cond, ps, pdb, SS hood, nice solid california body with no rust, perfect floors/trunk, original paint (reddish orange) if that makes sense w/perfect black interior, runs/drives nice.

You didn't say if it is auto or std...but if it a numbers car and completely rust free as you say it is worth at least $15k....maybe a couple dollars more if it's a 4 speed. You can't build a rustfree small block car for that much...1972 is the last year for that body style...V-8, no rust...buy it!!!!

8K max. Unfortunately '72 Chevys with the "SS" moniker are "SS" in name only. Always compare a Nova to the same model Camaro. I can get a '72 SS 350 Camaro in the same condition as the car above for 10K. COPO's aside, Novas usually sell for 50 - 66% of it's equivalent Camaro.

Hylton - if you can find a running, driving, orig drive train, documented '72 Nova SS for $8k buy it and I'll help you make some money.... As for power, '72 is when net horsepower figures were introduced. The '72 L48 was about the same as the '71 which was only down 30 hp from the '69... You could mill the heads adding compression and gain that back.
