View Full Version : 2004r TV cable problem *update*
mtnhopper1 Aug 28th, 07, 08:01 AM Okay, so I figured out what the spring and lever assembly is.
For those of you who skipped over my excessively long post below (yeah, sorry about that), here is the story:
I installed my new BTO "TV made easy" kit over the weekend, and as I unbolted the TV lever inside the trans, the "tv exhaust check ball lifter" and spring fell out of the mechanism.
Although I thought I put it in properly, when I put everything back together, the tv cable was binding and finally let loose. I think the lever was installed wrong and popped out of place. Now I have to take it apart again and put it together properly.
Does anyone have a picture or diagram of how the lever should be assembled?
Chevy Chase Aug 28th, 07, 11:00 AM Damon, Bowtieoverdrives.com has color-coded photographs in detail of the TV cable system and how it all works at the carb and inside the pan. Go to the left column on their home page titled BTO links, go down to the bottom and click on The TV System, go to the bottom of page and click on TV SYSTEMS 101. Important note: If you purchased their transmission you do not need to change the TV Spring- Per Bowtie Overdrives.
BPOS Aug 28th, 07, 11:15 AM Not sure if these will help - I took them several years ago lying flat on my back under the car - sorry for the poor quality.

mtnhopper1 Aug 28th, 07, 12:48 PM That's perfect, Al.
Thanks a bunch!
mtnhopper1 Aug 28th, 07, 12:53 PM Thanks, Terry.
The pictures there are of a 700 r4. The cable lever is different.
BPOS Aug 28th, 07, 12:56 PM Cool.
Chevy Chase Aug 28th, 07, 03:09 PM Damon- You are right. Even when you go to the Frequently Asked Questions section about the 2004R they show photos of the 700R4. BPO's photos are really good for showing the lever's position .
mtnhopper1 Aug 28th, 07, 03:28 PM Yeah. That first pic shows exactly what I needed. I owe you one, pal.
hereitis67 Aug 28th, 07, 07:09 PM even tho it is a 700 not a 2004r it is basically the same.if you got any more problems mt pm me i can get pics at work.if you coming down with car to do bushings in front ill triple check to make sure you got it all right also.
mtnhopper1 Aug 29th, 07, 06:59 AM Thanks, Bill. I think I can get it done with the pics above.
The check-up would be cool, but I think I'd probably pull the control arms out and bring them up there rather than bringing up the whole car. Maybe I'll bring the car up before I take the suspension apart so you can take a look a the TV cable.
Either way, I have to get the trans straightened out before start pulling the front suspension apart, but its next on the list.
