Lets try this again, I'm trying to figure out where to mount the rear speakers and keep comming up without room or haveing to do major surgery. How have you mounted custom speakers? I made mounts to put two under the dash but need help with the reat.
Thanks,

I put 2 4X6 two ways in the kick panels, 2 4x6 two ways in the dash where the original speaker went. I ran the four way seperation to the four front speakers so I could adjust the front to rear fade to the dash speakers at freeway speed and then adjust more to the kick panel ones at lower speeds. I put 2 four way 300 watt 4X8's using the original cardboard speaker holder with 2" plastic spacers I bought at the stereo store, so the four way deeper speaker would fit in the stock location in the convertible well. I am running the back speakers off of a 150 watt amp that's under the passener seat and can adjust the output on the amp when the top is up, then crank it when the top is down. Sounds OK at 90 with the top down and still looks stock. Hope this gives you some ides.

Well, I did put 6x9's in my abody convertible in the rear arm rests. For my Fbody I was thinking of that a 3 - 6 inch speaker would fit. I saw sears sells a 4 inch kenwood speaker that has a really slim grille (which is a big plus for where it is). 4 inch speakers are the smallest speakers that come with grilles that I can find. You might want to go with a speaker that has a seperate tweeter, that way it will be slim.
I was also thinking of instead of using a grille I would rip of the armest covering, drill the hole and mount it behind, and then recovering the arm rest and 'punch' symetric holes into the covering to hide the speaker a little better.

Stenn:
Get some speaker enclosures and put a pair of good, high quality 6x9's in them. Put one behind each seat on the floor and you hardly notice they are there. If you have a black carpet, go with black "carpeted" boxes. If you enter shows where originality is important, you can simply take them out for the shows and put them back when you're cruising!
