Actually have two questions. First, I have a 76' with a 305 in it. When I try to start the car it takes a few trys and a couple minutes. Then after getting it started while driving it stalls out on me when I stop or slow down unless I keep a little pressure on the gas. All this started when I started it one morning and it made a loud bang, I'm thinking it was the timing chain skipping a tooth on the sprocket. So now my car takes awhile to start, won't stay started and has a loud ticking or tapping noise coming from the passenger side of the engine. Anyone have any ideas? My thoughts are that my timing chain and spocket need replaced and my timing redone. Just want to see if anyone else has any other ideas...

Hard to say for sure but it does sound like your chain, I would check it first if it were me. Anything more than 3 degs. is enough to call it worn out , Ive have seen them still run with 6 tho.
