I've been running rallys (15x7 front, 15x8 rear) with 235/60-15s on the front and 275/60-15s on the rear and want to use 255s all the way around. Will the fronts clear? Thanks

I would not go any bigger than the 235s in the front. My 235s rubbed very slightly and I replaced them with 225 60 15s in the front and 255 60 15s in the rear.

I gotta agree with CnC on this one...P235/60R15's will clear on most 1969s with a 15x7 wheel and 4.25" backspace on a 15x7 Rally Wheel. I have P235/60/R15 all the way around on my 1969.

FWIW, The only car I have ever owned which did not have the same size tires all the way around was the first car I ever bought (my original 1969 Camaro). I like having the same size all the way around with the same type of wheel. I can look for uneven wear in one spot of the tire and then rotate the tires and find out if they are wearing evenly. My friends still can't believe my wife got over 80k miles on the tires on her mini-van over 5 year period. I have 75k miles on my tires over 6 years on my Explorer as the original ones were warranty replacement's in 2001.

When this 1969 gets done right and gets done the SOUTH SIDE way then I will put bigger tires in the back to get it to hook up until then, ho hum...

Why would you want to put 255's on the front?? that would be kinda crazy huge:D

When I first got my Z back in 2000 it had 255/60 on a 15X7 ralley on the front and a 255/60 on a 15X8 ralley in the back. The previous owner had rolled the front fender extentions and the rear quarters top. It's just too big of a tire IMO. They would also hit when going up the drive. I'm now running a 215/65 in the front and 255/60 in the rear. Here's a pic of before and after. Usually I'm running Cragars but for some shows I run the ralleys.

I asked about this because I was buying new tires and wanted the same size x4. I ended up with 4 225/60-15s and they're OK except I need to replace the rear 8" ralleys with 7s. I sorta wanted to use 235s on the front and 255s on the rear but choices are getting slim for 15 inch tires and the tires I wanted didn't offer those sizes in the same model. Oh well...guess I'll wait for these to wear out. It kinda looks neat to see it in stock form after all those years of running 275s on the rear.

My reason for bigger tires in the front is braking!

255's on the back is great but stick with your 235's on front. The 255's on front will cause all kinds of rubbing.

Thanks for all the help (except one) as I have made the decision to go with STOCK 225/60-15s all the way around. I must say it's a little refreshing after all those years of running 235s and 275s. Road noise, handling, ride height and other things have improved dramatically. Probably won't do it again but it's a nice change...for now. Thanks again.
