I just completed the restoration of a 1968 Z28. I installed the correct front coil springs from Rick's First Generation (Part# SS-416) and I put 15X7 ralley wheels with BF Goodrich 225 60 series tires on it. I am getting rubbing on the passenger side front wheel well. I don't want to switch out the coil springs or go with a 70 series tire and was wondering if switching to a different tire (215 or 205) in 60 series will cure the problem. Is anyone using these tires on a Z28 without rubbing. I have 235 60's on the rear with no problems. I really like the stance and everyone tells me that switching to big block springs would raise the front end up too high.

it seems you have the wrong combination..

if you had 15x6 rims your 225 60 may be ok..

with your 15x7 rims you may need to go to a smaller 215 60 size tire

Thanks Wagonman. I talked to another tire shop in town and they said I might consider a 215 65 series tire. I've never heard of a 65 series tire. Would they fit a 15X7 rim and would they look wrong when matched with a 235 60 series in the rear?

I currently run 225-50-15's, on 16x7" rims with 3 7/8" backspace. These are short lil buggers at 23.5" tall. Car is very low, can't get even one finger between the tire and the fender. Never ever rubs.

Previous tires were 215-65-15 on 15x7 unknown backspace, they didn't rub either.

If it's only on one side, it's possible your subframe isn't quite centered.
How bad is the rubbing? you might be able to fix it with button head bolts if it is only hitting some of the boltheads.
