:confused:Hey guys, Could this be caused by bad gas. Heres what it does. Starts fine idles fine get it up past half throttle & it starts missing & sometimes dies. (backfired once). There has been some bad (old) gas in it. I have put new plugs, wires cap, rotor, points & gas in but, how long does it take to burn through bad gas. It had a third tank of bad in it & filled it with new drove it 30 + miles but hasnt improved. Could it be a bad filter causing it to hesitate etc? This car ran great til this summer & I hadnt changed anything on motor.double checked firing order and its fine,it had this problem before i even tuned it up.

I can't say for sure, but I just got my rebuilt motor going and it ran real hot, melted some plug boots an ran like crap. I put the Sta-bil in it but after checking everything else, I decided to drain the old gas out and it smelled horrible. I will let you know if that's what made mine run bad.

Bad gas will normally make it run like **** everywhere. I would see if you have a partially plugged fuel filter or check the pressure right before the carb.

Blow air into the fuel line at the pump and toward the tank. Sometime the sock in the tank plugs. If this works you will probably need to drop the tank and either change the sock or throw it away and put an inline filter between the tank and pump.

My problem was a bad contact on pos. side of coil. It was still attached but bad contact. It feels so good knowing i dont have to drain gas or replace all fuel filters, although it did take some of the fun out of being at carcraft even though i did get the car up there on saturday, nice day, & i got a cool picture of the car coming into fairgrounds. I'm a happy cruiser once again:hurray::beers::yes::D:thumbsup:.
