View Full Version : Holley carb feed line

After over a week of agonizing how and where to run my feed line set-up, I thought I would ask.

I am having a problem getting my feedline from my pressure regulator (mounted on the right head) to my carb (Holley 750 DP). My heater hose is preventing a straight shot from the front of the motor. Do any of you have any pictures or your set-ups so I can get some ideas?

Appearance is 100% essential. I am using braided line throughout and -6AN fittings.

Thanks for any and all suggestions

I have a holley on an rpm airgap. I moved my fuel regulator onto the passengers side firewall and ran the fuel lines towards the rear of the car from the carb. the regulator has a side mounted gauge and it looks great and more importantly, it works great..i have an electric fuel pump so the lines run to the rear of the vehicle

I'd be curious to see what it looks like now....did you say the reg was mounted on the cylinder head???? Does/can heat affect the pressure??

do like most do and mount regulator on the fenderwell and run a line across to the carb.
you can also mount regulator near the tank after the pump under the car and use a shorter return line .
that way only 1 line is in the bay.

I really don't think if affects either. First the regulator is on a bracket that gives good air flow and is nearly suspendend. Second the regulator braket is supended from the head with a spacer. Finally, a mechanical fuel pump is mounted directly to the block in stock application and the fuel line to the carb is ran by the block, water pump, and heater hoses.

I may have to go with this setup, but I don't know if I will like the look: http://store.summitracing.com/partdetail.asp?autofilter=1&part=HLY%2D20%2D120&N=700+115&autoview=sku

Also, I am aware of the fender mounting solution, but I don't really like the look. I am also running a mechanical fuel pump, mainly because my wife has always hated the buzz of electrics. She is in the car a majority of the time, so I am listening to her desire. I may be kicking it to the curb though.

This just sucks. This has cost me a couple of extra days just dealing with a plumbing problem. If I wasn't so interested in appearance, I would be driving the car right now.

Strick just my $.02, but they sell a phenolic insulator to go between the mechanical fuel pump and the block to prevent the pump from absorbing the heat of the block and heating the fuel. I think the fuel probably moves through it quick enough that it isn't much of an issue, but apparently it was enough for someone that the after market is offering this now.

I make my own hard lines, so I can't really help you out on the braided line issues.

Good Luck though. Don't get frustrated, someone here has been through this before.

Just to put this thread to a final solution . I mounted the regulator on the wheelwell below (kinda) the battery, and used a solid stainless summit carb feed/gauge/filter which looks sweet! I did have to use a carb spacer -1"- to get the line to clear the heater hose coming out of the intake. Once I get around to it I will post some pics.
