I am trying to find a oil tube and dipstick that I can buy for my 69 350 small block engine? Any ideas? I bought GM performance part # 12342007 tube and dipstick (taiwan made) says should fit small blocks through 1977, but oil tube wont fit in the block hole? Size seems just a little big?

any suggestions please?

thanks
Joe

They are always a little too big. Try filing the end. If that doesn't work, put a washer down to the bump and tap it in with the washer.

If I file the end, will it be enough for the rest to seat in the block hole? The tube does not look like it has a taper, hate taiwan parts...

thx

If I may,
I think go2fast meant was to file a small angle or taper on the very end that goes in to the block so its easier to get started and tap it in the rest of the way.

Thanks for the help! I filed the edge but than had to file the whole flange for it to eventually seat all the way flush to the block.

Problem solved. Now back to checking the oil without a "fight" with the old tube.

That reminds me, I need to replace my tube as well, The tube is too loose on mine, dipstck & tube all come out at once if I just grab it to check the oil....
Always something.......
