Im preping my 69 right now so i can put in the engine. The whole engine area is balck right now and when i srap away there is nothing underneither so..should it be black? The whole engine compartment. Is POr15 a good thing to use to coat the engine compartment? Any pictures of your engine areas preferably with the engine out but any will be a big help i want to have it look good and look original

I don't know anything about original but most people seem to think the flat or semi flat krylon is a good match. I don't personally care if it is original or not, I just want my car protected. If I can coat something with POR-15 then I will coat it! In the hard to reach places inside the car I'm using Eastwood's Corroless Rust Stabilizer. I am determined to keep the rust at bay! I just got done doing my firewall in POR-15 Gloss black and used some Blackcote on the cowl area. To see the pics: http://albums.photopoint.com/j/AlbumIndex?u=1536360&a=11870866&f=0
Hope this helps. If the link doesn't work can somebody e-mail me and I will fix it.

You can get a complete list of original paint colors for your car in "The Definitive 1969 Camaro Fact Book" by Jerry MacNeish. (Appendix E). For example the firewall and fender skirts should be 30 percent semi-gloss black, heater box cover 60-70 percent gloss black, etc..
