Hey guys. I signed up about a year ago, made my first post today. I rule! You think thats bad, my '69 Camaro RS has been sitting in my garage for over 10 years now waiting for me to get around to bringing her back to life. I bought it when I was 14 with money I saved up from allowance, mowing peoples lawns, and other various grunt work around the neighborhood. The plan was to have that classic father-son bonding experience learning about cars building a muscle car together. Reality is I wasn't born into a family with that kind of dad. He left & started up a new family, I had nowhere to learn how to build the car and no one to build it with, so it just sat in storage for years waiting for me. I'm 25 now, haven't talked to Dad for years, and I was just about to sell the car & be done with it, but I changed my mind. I've got a Camaro, I've got tools, I've got the internet to answer all my dumb questions. Who needs a dad? I'm gunna build this bad boy myself!

Here's a picture of me & my baby from when I was 16.

And here's where she stands today waitin' on me, and some help from you:

Are ya done yet??

LMAO--- Welcome to Team Camaro!

Bring it on, we're ready. Start by hauling her out of the garage and cleaning her out, inside, outside, and under the hood, all spotless, then we can see what you got. I'll be back during halftime, better be done!

Yup. All done. It was a lot of work, that was the hardest 4 hours of my life! Hod Rod magazine is on their way out Wednesday for a photoshoot, it'll be the cover car in November.

Just kidden. :D So far, after slavin' away all weekend, I finally fixed a problem I was having with the ignition & got her runnin'. First time in years I've heard that rumble, it was a BEAUTIFUL sound. Apparently a brake line or seal in a wheel cylinder somewhere or something rotted away though, because I've got no brakes. Some time this week I'll add some fluid & bleed 'em & see if they come back to life but I'd imagine I'll need to go through 'em before I can pull it out of the garage & do much cleaning, so you guys will have to wait to see her all cleaned up & purdy. The plan right now is to do everything I can with a wrench, then with whatever money is left, send it out to body & paint & maybe rewire if I can't fix the electrical gremlins myself.

Got it fired up tonight, next step is to fix the brakes, then carb, then door hinges, window regulators, and cranks. Sooner or later a cowl induction hood, wheels & tires, and send it off to body & paint. There's 8 million other steps involved too I'm sure, but thats the general plan. Every bit of this that I'm doing myself, you can bet you'll see a thread posted on here with me asking dumb questions. You guys are gunna hate me by the time its done. hehehe

*edit* Oh yeah, forgot to mention. I live just outside of Atlanta, GA...so if anyone's local, give me a shout!

Fired up is good, itsa "start" after all!

Look at the backsides of the tires and along all the lines for evidence of a leak. Spot one, don't even bother to put fluid in it.

As for the wiring, we got a darned good crew of electrical experts here, a good dozen souls that know every wire on that car, I wouldn't sweat that part.
