I finally got around to checking the actual port sizes on my Big Block AFR 335cc CNC heads, just as they came out of the box. They will be going on the 540 I'm building. So, I cc'd # 1 intake port and # 3 intake port. Here are the results:
# 1 intake port = 330.5cc which was confirmed by a repeat measurement
# 3 intake port = 335cc which is of course right on the money
Additional comments:
# 1 and # 5 intake ports are the same geometry
# 3 and # 7 intake ports are the same geometry
Ports 1 and 5 have to reach .500 further in the front/back direction than do ports 3 and 7
Ports 1 and 5 are longer, yet are smaller in volume, and they flow toward the center of the cylinder
Ports 3 and 7 are shorter, but have a larger volume, and flow toward the cylinder wall
They are what they are, so I'll see how they work out.
