Front tires are rubbing on turns at the back of the fender well when turning. Have 15x7 centerline wheels with 3 5/16 backspacing. Just put moog 6308 springs on and thought that would bring it up enough to clear. Then someone told me I needed a smaller tire. Had 235 x 60R on, went to a 215 x 70R and they are rubbing just as bad. Is there something else I need to be looking at. When visually looking at the frontend it seems there is plenty of room all around for these not to rub. Car has front disc brake kit on it and front end redone (new ball joints, tie rod ends...etc) can something be screwed up there?

It's right at the back and bottom of the front wheel well, there is a bolt at the bottom of the wheel well and it is rubbing there. When you turn either way and both tires are doing it.

Some guys replace those bolts with button head allen bolts.

Definately thought about grinding the bolt heads down, but turning and hitting an incline, it's hitting more than just the bolt head.

You need more backspacing on your rims. My rims are 15x7s with 4.25 inches of backspace. I also converted to front disc brakes which push out the tires slightly. I have 225 60R 15 BF Goodrich Radial TA Tires on the front with no rubbing issues at all.

If you go to this web site WWW1010tires.com they have a tire size calculator you can use . It says a 235/60/R15 tire is 26.10" in dia. and a 215/70/R15 tire is 26.85" in dia. so it seems you put a larger tire on when you went to the 70 series tire , that may be why it still rubs . If you went to a 215/60/R15 tire it's 25.15" in dia. which would give you a inch less in dia. I have the same problem on my 68 with 245/60/R15's and I think 215's will fix it on mine.

Yep, sounds like it is a larger tire. I want to avoid buying new wheels, had these for a while and don't think I can swap. That 215/60/R15 sounds good. Will look for those and try it. Thanks for the info.

You really need 7" wide rims that have a stock, front spacing of 2.25" to cure this!!

My old Fenton 14" x 7" w/ 3.5" b/s would rub my front wheel well lip chrome strips at full droop so you need to get your width w/ a deeper back spacing.

good luck on finding bf goodrich tire size. p215/60r/15 they not available on national backorder. i went with cooper cobra radial g/t the p215/60r/15 with a 8 inch rim did fine no tire rubbing even with 5 people in car and heavy turns.stock front end also.

215/15/60R's did it. No more rubbing, thanks for all the info. Did have to order from manufacturer for the Goodyear Road Hugger GT's, only thing, had to do black wall. They don't make them with the white raised letter anymore.
