I have seen pictures of '67 Camaros that have a spoiler on the rear deck lid. Was this something that could be ordered in '67 or have these cars receive a deck lid from say a '68 or '69?

According to the Classic catalog they sell the spoilers for 67-68. 69's are different, dont know how. The price for original GM is 154.00 Part # G6590 Repro. 199.95 K959

As SAyers69 says they were available for '67 Camaros. '69 spoilers are a little over 2" wider than the '67-68 ones - simply because '69 Camaros are wider than the '67-68s.

The rear spoiler was option code D-80 and was available in 67, 68, & 69.

You can still buy the Spoilers from Chevrolet. I'm tired of looking at spoilers though. Please try to find a deck lid that already has spoiler holes in it though. Non spoiler deck lids are getting very hard to find.

Thanks for the information. Clill, if I go this route, I will get a repro deck and put the spoiler on. Then have the body shop paint both the original and the spoiler deck. It would then be very easy to go back to original. I may just leave it as is without the spoiler. One of my 10 commandments of these older cars is never cut up an original piece.

Rear spoilers were not a factory option in 1967. See camaros.org website. Most people install the 1968 spoiler on their 1967.

Kevin is correct. The 1969 spoiler was about 2 inches wider that the 1968 version (Hey man, are you calling my car fat? http://www.camaros.net/forum/wink.gif ). However, there were left over spoilers from the 1968 model year that were installed on very early 1969 models.

There is a very good article on the impact on handling the spoiler package makes on camaro-untoldsecrets.com. Apparently, they do have a positive impact even at highway speeds.

Denver..Save your Receipt if you buy a Repo deck lid, they usually don't fit very well. Be prepared for a Pissed off Body man. :)
