have haynes book just looking to see if anybody have done this before and has some advices

I was just talking to an old timer the other evening that swears by a brass core instead of aluminum cores. But I think he is mostly concerned with the aluminum cores having plastic tanks and nipples on them. Personally (knock on wood) all I've ever seen are brass cores and no nothing about the newer types.

The hard part is getting to it. Some cars are pretty easy, others are a PITA. Some require you to recover the freon because the heater box comes out as a unit. If that happens, go ahead and sring for an new A/C evaporator at the same time.
