I have an Edelbrock Performer fuel pump and it has two holes on the side that faces the motor mount. Out of these two holes I have oil seepage. I was wondering if anyone else is running this pump and experiencing the same issue? I started to change both the mount gasket and the pump flange gasket thinking one of those were the problem when I noticed these two holes. If anyone has any suggestions I would really appreciate them. Thanks.

Sounds like your oil drainback hole in the block is plugged with carbon or silicone.

Not familiar with the edelbrock mec pump, but a little oil is going to migrate back up the pump lever.

How can I unplug it? I out RTV on the bolts when I installed them. Did that do it?

I doubt if you caused it Charlie, unless you went ape**** with the silicone. I put silicone on fuel pump gaskets myself, they are so poorly built no way they can seal.

You have to pull the pump and the plate behind it. The pump is held on with 2 of 3/8" bolts and the plate is held on with 2 of 1/4" bolts. Then look down low in the cavity and there is a 5/16 or 3/8 drain hole that angles down toward the pan. I have seen them full of carbon or silicone.

Is it leaking bad? Bear in mind what I said earlier, some oil is going to migrate on that lever. If it's just tracks it could be crankcase blowby I guess. Hate to see you pull it for nothing.

Old gaskets get in that drain too

Charlie,
I have one of these in a BBC, I notice mine leaking oil (I'm not sure if it is from the same place you are describing)...shortly thereafter I smelt gas in the oil.

I am going to call Edelbrock today and ask them about this situation. I will post back with their answer.

Here is what the tech said about the oil seepage. The seal inside the pump is bad and it needs to be replaced. There should not be oil leaking from the holes. Period.
