View Full Version : Bought a New Trailblazer SS.....Wow
markr Sep 17th, 07, 07:56 AM Well, after going back and forth a number of times deciding if I wanted to wait for the new Camaro...... I bought a new Trailblazer SS.
Wow.
The Trailblazer SS is one impressive vehicle.
LS2 6.0 Litre with 395hp and 400 lb torque.
Four speed automatic.
4.10 9.5" posi rear.
HD springs, Bilstein shocks, bushings and 20" wheels.
Leather, Moonroof, Bose, XM.
What amazes me is how this truck handles.
You can throw it into turns and dig out of corners with power.
This thing thinks it's a sportscar !
But if you kick back and keep the revs down, it's a very quiet, comfortable highway cruiser.
It's real Q-Ship: 0-60 5.7 sec, 1/4 mile 13.5 STOCK !
Not what I would expect from a truck.
I'm callin' it my Nomad :D
Here's a pic.....

ORENCH Sep 17th, 07, 09:41 AM I like it a lot!! Enjoy your toy.
thedugan Sep 17th, 07, 10:16 AM I was not crazy about the interior or the fact that it did not have a 5spd automatic. I wish they put the 5spd auto, and the denali like interior
Jeff H Sep 17th, 07, 11:02 AM They're nice trucks, just don't expect good gas mileage. Did you get the all wheel drive or just 2 wheel?
DWCamaro69 Sep 17th, 07, 11:12 AM I recently bought a new Escalade. 403 hp and 6 spd Auto. I am guessing this Tralblazer is alot lighter and would wax my Sclade! I do think they should have stepped up with a 6 spd trans though.

I just got the 2 wheel drive version.
The mileage isn't bad if you keep your foot out of it. I'll let you know if I ever do that :D Nah, just kidding. I'm takin' it easy for the break in period.

Yeah, I wish the interior was more like the new Silverados (which I was considering too). Even though the interior isn't as modern and updated as the Silverados, it's still very comfortable and functional. I'm really enjoying it. I also wished it had the A6 six speed automatic, but the M70 is a decent high torque tranny, and at least it's a pretty deep overdrive 4th gear. I'm turning about 2600 rpm at just under 80.

thedugan Sep 17th, 07, 01:29 PM check out trailvoy.com
great website on the TBSS, I'm a member thedugan.
Once they put a better trans in (for gas milage) and a better interior (im trading in my Audi for the TB so the interior has to be as nice or better).
Its a great looking truck
98blackburb Sep 17th, 07, 02:59 PM The local streets will never be the same :noway:....I am happy for you Mark, thanks for your help with my car:yes:...............alan
markr Sep 22nd, 07, 07:53 AM Thanks Alan.....The streets here are still safe so far....;)
Man, I'm still havin' fun with this thing.
There's been alot of talk over the past year or two about what cars Chevy has been putting the SS badge on, but this Trailblazer SS earns its SS badge. At part throttle it's a quiet comfortable V8 truck, but put your foot in it and it does a Jeckyl and Hyde. The tranny downshifts, the LS2 wakes up and barks, and your driving a 13.5 sec muscle car. Very fun.

PROZ11 Sep 22nd, 07, 03:01 PM Hey Mark... looks like we have a lot in common. We both have Camaros, my name is also Mark R, and I also bought a Trailblazer SS. I've had mine since Feb. of 2006. I have about 20k on it now. I really like the truck. I've supprised alot of people out on the road with it. I have an AWD and only get about 14MPG with it. It's hard to drive it without steppin on it a few times. And thats after a year and a half. I have plans to throw some upgrades at it once my 69 is finished.
Here's a shot of it in my driveway with my Camaro parked behind it (before I installed the nose). Thats a friend of mine's 69 Lemans blue, RS/SS parked next to my Camaro.

Hi Mark....what a trip....both Mark R, and both with a '69 Camaro and a Trailblazer SS. sounds like we have the same good taste in cars :D
Both of my cars are Chevy SS now and with my Harley I can proudly say that I own all American made vehicles. That feels good.
Have you done any mods to your Trailblazer SS ?
I've put a K&N on mine and will be getting a Vector Motorsports tune in the next couple of weeks. I understand their tune not only adds power but improves shifts and increases mpg.
JimM Sep 24th, 07, 05:42 AM I was talking to a guy with a black TBSS at the strip in Byron yesterday. Nice truck. I saw him run a 14.52, and he told me it's gotten into the 13's in cooler weather. Not bad for a family truckster.

I haven't really done anything with the TBSS yet. Just a heat soak kit. My Camaro is eatin' up any and all extra money I get. But, I'm closing in on finishing up the Camaro. As soon as it's done I will start to mod the TBSS. I'm not gonna go too crazy with it, it's my daily driver. (Then again, I wasn't gonna go too crazy with my Camaro.. and look what happened) I live near Tune Time Performance. I've talked to them a few times. They do TBSS tuning. I'm planning on having them do a retune as well as some bolt on stuff. There are guys running in the 12's and some 11's with bolt ons with these trucks. Check out Trailblazerss.com and TBSSowners.com. Lots of good info on both sites.
PS: I also have a bike. It's a cruiser, but not a Harley. It's 2003 Kawasaki Meanstreak.

Very cool Adam.
What do you think of your Vector tune ? Did it make a big difference in the 1-2 shift ? and how would you rate the power over all ?
Thanks
Markr
