Is there a good solution/alternative to these silly chrome strips around the windows? Here in the south we have pine needles... they enjoy living under the chrome strips and are quite a pain when cleaning the cars.

PDQUICK Aug 13th, 04, 02:46 AM I'm afraid we have pine needles up here in the northeast too (pretty sure there's a spruce or two in the great northwestern forests as well :D ). Don't really know what else to do about the needles other than flushing them out regularly with lots of water. I find that the ones that are really a PITA are the ones that get stuck under my rear spoiler!! I guess you do a little amatuer Chip Foose and resize the windo trays until you could just bond in a black vinyl "reveal molding" like on a late model car?? It would definitely take a lot of metal work! But, you'd be the coolest guy on your block too! Paul D. djunod Aug 13th, 04, 11:45 AM After I posted the message, that was what I got to thinking about... was to just make it the flush mount black molding. I'm going to contact a self-proclaimed window expert (young guy who somehow has been doing car windows for 13 years that came out to the house to do a couple of vehicle windows the other day) to see what he thinks... maybe he already has some molding that will do it. My son has a '65 Malibu SS that is his daily driver. He left it at the house now for a few weeks waiting for me to buy him some new wheels, tires and brakes. I was washing it off, and just kept getting more & more pine needles from under the chrome. Have 2 other cars that have the same issue. It really gets old after a while. It will definitely be worth the time & effort to come up with a easy solution. |
