View Full Version : Fun grudge match ran with a late model Mustang 6D9 Sep 17th, 07, 04:11 PM We are gonna run them on Oct 20th at the grudge night in Sac. I will keep you posted on the results..... 68RS-SS Sep 17th, 07, 04:43 PM Sounds like fun. I realy hate to say it as I always love to see a Camaro beat a Mustang at the dragstrip but judging from the specs in your signature it looks like you may not have enough to keep up with that supercharged Mustang (unless your plannin on sprayin some NO2). The stock Mustang GTs are pretty tame but them supercharged horsies can sure hall some booty. Well I hope you prove me wrong!! Good Luck!! 6D9 Sep 17th, 07, 04:59 PM His car ran last time at the track 13.2 at 107. I dont think that gonna be enough for my set up but we will see... 68rs406 Sep 17th, 07, 05:20 PM He should be faster than that, like in the 12's, but driver has a lot to do with it. Still, based on your specs I don't see him beating you, you should be low 12's even high 11's if you hook. My money is on you  (I do like the Mustangs too for the record). CGFlyer61 Sep 17th, 07, 05:52 PM The heck with the Mustangs... Make him wish he'd waited on the new Camaro! Good luck, but I don't think you'll need it. DOUG G Sep 17th, 07, 06:31 PM The only thing I don't like in your set-up is the 3310 carb. A nice 750-850dp would be better  6D9 Sep 18th, 07, 12:24 AM I plan to go to a DP soon but this 3310 sure runs good! I did the metering block conversion and it has worked out great so far. A good friend of mine is running the same carb in his 406 Nova....runs 11.55 at 115 so there is hope for it! His times were with the factory street tires so I dont know if he plans to swap them for something sticky or not. I will be on 275/50/15 BFG drag radials with welds and 165R front runners. Also just got the caltrac bars installed as well. Flash68 Sep 18th, 07, 01:00 AM You got him.... unless his last name is Pedregon or something.... and you have never driven your car before. Git er dun! m21man Sep 18th, 07, 12:42 PM 408 sbc ftw! those blown mustangs are heavy pigs. 6D9 Sep 18th, 07, 11:31 PM 408 sbc ftw! those blown mustangs are heavy pigs. The new Stangs are not to heavy but the 03/04 Cobra's are pretty heavy. m21man Sep 22nd, 07, 06:36 PM The new Stangs are not to heavy but the 03/04 Cobra's are pretty heavy. its a mustang, it isnt allowed to win. 6D9 Sep 23rd, 07, 10:15 PM Im down with that bro!....if I get the cash/time I might put a bottle in the car just for fun .gearhead. Sep 23rd, 07, 11:23 PM Git er done... Jim 6D9 Oct 17th, 07, 10:04 PM Update.....were going to the track this sat Oct 20th. I will keep you guys posted. 6D9 Oct 21st, 07, 10:00 PM Well....we both made it to the track but never got a chance to line them up. But it would have been ugy for him. His best was a 13.27 at 107. Mine was 12.40 at 112.3. Had a good time but having a hard time getting it to hook! DOUG G Oct 22nd, 07, 05:39 AM Good run. Get that thing to hook and it only gets worse for him (see mph in my sig with ET) ;) 6D9 Oct 22nd, 07, 10:45 AM Yeah...I figure if I can pull a 1.6 then a 11.8 to 11.9 hould be within reach....yeah! m21man Nov 2nd, 07, 11:02 PM I told you he'd have no chance! PowerWindows Nov 3rd, 07, 02:02 AM Poor Mustang guy! My 2002 Z28 has run better than what he turned and I'm running in Phoenix @ Firebird. With a DA of 3800 feet and 65 deg temps I pulled a 1.99 60' and a 13.14 @ 107 quarter on street tires. I guess he needs the "driver mod". 68rs406 Nov 3rd, 07, 01:42 PM There was a new Mustang Shelby at the track when I was there last weekend, looked totally stock, just had a set ET streets on it. I was talking to him and he had done a few of the easy bolt ons, but very little to the motor just basically put on a different pulley on the blower, he was running 11.50's but his times were all over, due to a six speed and traction issues. He was difinately not a big drag racer, just a guy running his fast car, so it probably would go faster. Bottom line, I was impressed, those things haul butt, and get 20 miles to the gallon.... camaroman7d Nov 3rd, 07, 08:50 PM Sean, My co-worker has a new Shelby, the cars are pretty quick. I imagine with traction they would get along pretty good. With street radialsthey are just tire burners like any car with HP. Definetly not a car to be disrepected. I guess at ~$70K they ought to be fast. 6D9 Nov 4th, 07, 12:38 AM I am planning on getting some MT dr's pretty soon and maybe some different front springs. This I hope will get me into the 11.8-11.9 range. Then add a small NX kit spraying 100-125 shot. Looking for bottom 11's. 68rs406 Nov 4th, 07, 01:50 AM Sean, Definetly not a car to be disrepected. I guess at ~$70K they ought to be fast. Exactly Royce, that is nuts how much they cost. I have a Mustang 5 liter ragtop I've had for about 16 years, and my wife loves it. When I told her about the shelby the guy I was talking to had, she said "maybe you should sell your Camaro and get one of those" She was kidding (I hope), but when I told her for another 50 grand and my car I could have one....she was not so convinced :D 68rs406 Nov 4th, 07, 01:53 AM I am planning on getting some MT dr's pretty soon and maybe some different front springs. This I hope will get me into the 11.8-11.9 range. Then add a small NX kit spraying 100-125 shot. Looking for bottom 11's. You should be able to run 11.80 or so as is with traction, and the MT drag radials are definately awesome. Add a 125 horse shot with traction and tuning and you will run high 10's I'd wager. Are you still running a vac secondary carb? 6D9 Nov 6th, 07, 10:15 PM Yep...still vac sec carb. 68rs406 Nov 6th, 07, 10:25 PM So does it seem to be working well for you? I'd be real tempted If I were you to try a double pumper on there, if you had a buddy that could loan you one. If you have that vac sec. carb dialed in you may not see improvement, but I'd be kind of surprised, definately worth looking into IMO. 6D9 Nov 7th, 07, 01:49 PM Sean...yeah the VS I have seems to work great. But...Im sure a nice DP would help a bit. I picked up a 650DP the other day and way planning on adding a HP mainbody to convert it to a cheap HP750. What do you think?? My dad also has a box stock 750DP on his Cobra but wont let me "barrow" it for the day....... 68rs406 Nov 7th, 07, 06:56 PM I would try the box stock 750 if you can convince him to lend it out :D , just for grins before you spend money on your carb. But honestly I will be shocked if your new DP doesn't pick up at the track once it's dialed in. I know guys have great luck with the vac secondary carbs, but I firmly believe on a car like yours the DP will outperform it. Just my .02  |
