You mean start it correct? Gas goes bad pretty quick now days so you will need to get it out. Before you do, you need to make sure everything else is working. Check spark, check fuel pressure, make sure there are no rat nests in the intake ductwork, ect.

I'd be willing to bet it would start and run on 4 month old gas, but I bet it woulden't run top notch. I have 1 year old gas in my 4 wheeler and it still runs pretty good, but I start it and drive it at least once every week or so.

Again, check the things above before you get the gas out......you may have a bad fuel pump.

I have gas in my car that has been there since March. It started right up 6 months later. If gas is bad you can tell by smelling it. Whew!

LOL! Yep, my 4 wheeler is baaaaad. The last time I took a whiff, I nearly past out. I had to double check to see if it was still in a liquid state.

I had gas that sat for over a year and it started. Ran pretty well too so I don't think it's the gas.

I hadn't driven my '02 SS since really early this spring. I'd say the gas has been there since sometime last winter. I drove it to work this morning. It fired up just like it would if I drove it yesterday. Fuel injection is pretty resilient to changes in fuel condition.

I'm assuming the car turns over. Does it attempt to fire? Does it start and then quickly die? Does it simply run rough? If you could explain your symptoms someone may be able to help you get the problem resolved.

Yes, you may have to drain that fuel. Todays gasoline is only good for 30 days. If your letting your car sit for very long use some Stabil or something like that. Someone out there may have an easier answer? I hope they do.

There are ranchers, Forest Service, car dealers, etc. that have gas in vehicles for a longer time than that and it still works fine. Our school buses sit nearly all summer without problems. I would seriously doubt they all use Stabil in all of their vehicles. My Camaro sat in a so-called body shop for a year and it started and ran fine when I brought it home. I even took it for a 'warm-up' ride when I got it home and it was still trying to sniff out Mustangs and ricers but without any lights or plates I had to take it home. Therefore, I don't think gas is the problem.

I sold a 55 Stude recently that started and ran on gasoline that's has been in the tank since 1992.

That beats me. I fold!:)
My Camaro sat in my garage for four years while I was rebuilding my sailboat in the back yard. Fired right up with a new battery. (after I remembered to plug-in the coil wire,,,;))

Floyd, Where have you found that fuel is good for only 30 days? I'd be interesting to see why they say that. I know of quite a few low volume service stations that have fuel held in storage for way past that point, and have yet to hear a single customer complaint.

Do you work for an oil company?:o

I had a mower that had gas sit all winter and it was definitely bad. It smelled and would not allow it to start until I changd it. But my car just started after a 6 month stay in the body shop just fine. but nit didn't stink.

Not true - another "internet legend". Today's gas can sit for up to a year with no ill effects whatsoever. My weekend cars have sat untouched for 6-7 months with full fuel tanks every winter for 40 years with no Sta-Bil and fire right up and drive fine every spring.

:beers:
