i jave a 69 camaro in the shop that will only run with a jumper wire from the pos battery to plus side coil. with out this wire it will start but die as soon as you let off the key. i have already tried a different ignition switch, same thing adjusted it from one end to other no difference. i know i have had this happen before, but i can't remember what the problem was. any help would be apprecieted. auto trans big block, with points.

I'd start by looking at the resistance wire. The start position of the key bypasses it.
