Does anyone have any factory "printed " info or pictures for the special option that you could get in the trunk on the wheel wells of the camaro
"ice melter???"
What exactly was this option?? I have heard about it but never seen it
and nobody ever really talks about it... or about any rebuild kits in any of the restoration books...sound pretty rare to me??

Its called Liquid Tire Chain and was RPO V75. 188 cars were ordered with this in 1969.

There is a 69Z up in this country with that option. Basically its a cannister mounted in the trunk with a hose coming out of each end that go to a nozzle. The nozzles pierce the wheel housings. There is a button to activeate the spray that is mounted on the dash. When you get into trouble with winter driving, this stuff on the tires helped gain traction.

Was it a liquid you poured into a container in the trunk, or was it more like a rattle can?

Sounds exactly like the contraption we tried to rig up with bleach for smoke shows.
Never really panned out well for us either. Ended up being easier to just pour it on the ground..:o

Rattle can. From what I understand it helped keep the tire tread clear of snow so the tread of the tire would be clean to give traction.

A variation of Liquid Tire Chain is still sold in spray cans here:
