A.T. camaro's come with a console? except of course for the column shift. bertfam Sep 20th, 07, 04:33 PM No, the console wasn't a required option in some cases. Ed johnny67 Sep 20th, 07, 04:42 PM thanks Ed, that leads me to my next question which is; Is there a shifter retainer plate for a console A.T. 67' and if so where can they be bought. bertfam Sep 20th, 07, 04:54 PM I'm not sure if that's available new or in reproduction. You might have to find one used. Ed Camaros-n-Chevelles Sep 20th, 07, 05:00 PM Some First generation Camaros even came with Bench Front Seats. Tory 68 Ragtop Sep 20th, 07, 05:17 PM Did all first Gen. Other than that, automatics were on the column or on the floor with with a console. Is this what you need for your 67? http://www.rickscamaros.com/product.asp?pf%5Fid=CP%2D51&dept%5Fid=3443 (http://www.rickscamaros.com/product.asp?pf%5Fid=CP%2D51&dept%5Fid=3443) johnny67 Sep 20th, 07, 05:21 PM lol yes, mine came with a bench seat and a column shifter. But it is now a console AT with a few parts missing. I found a # for the retainer 3895282 but it has been discontinued. Anybody know a place to look?? johnny67 Sep 20th, 07, 05:30 PM No. A non console automatic floor shifter was available in 68, BB only, very rare. I wonder how many 68's had no console with the automatic on the floor. The part I need is the rectangle ring that goes over the shift boot. jch1805 Sep 21st, 07, 11:50 AM I never knew the 68 BB came with auto on floor with out console.Does anyone have a pic? Any members have this option? This really peeks my interest. What did the shifter look like, horseshoe with boot over it? T-Handle? 68 Ragtop Sep 21st, 07, 12:06 PM I never knew the 68 BB came with auto on floor with out console.Does anyone have a pic? Any members have this option? This really peeks my interest. All those parts are readily available at www.firewheelclassics.com . I think it is only going to be available used. The part # is 3895282. M35 A8 in the assy. manual. Rack Man Sep 21st, 07, 07:12 PM Whats this considered? Is it a factory part? It's in a 69 real Yenko! Dan http://firsttraderegistry.com/forsale/7_07/yenko/December05131.jpg That looks like a half console :D Rat Pack Sep 21st, 07, 10:30 PM Dan, that console is the one that came with the Hurst Dual Gate shifter when bought at the parts stores back in the day. It was not a specific fit application as you had to cut it to fit the tunnel of the car. This one shown in the automatic Yenko Camaro was the same as used in the 69 Yenko Chevelle if it wasn't equipped with the factory console. These were also used in the 68-69 Hurst Olds' Cutlass. Sometime in the 70's Hurst changed the design of the top plate of the shifter and the console itself eliminating the pocket up front: this is the Dual/Gate II. The original style console is being reproduced, so just find a complete shifter assy from a GTO and use the repro console for a Day 2 look..........RatPack.............. Thanks RatPack!....Does that mean that this particular car was shipped from the factory to Yenko with a regular console....or a column shift?...or how was it before Yenko got thier hands on it? Dan JimM Sep 22nd, 07, 06:59 AM Did all first Gen. A.T. camaro's come with a console? except of course for the column shift. I had a 67 327-PG car once, with no console. The stuff in this post showing a 68 setup is similar if not identical to the shifter on that car. |
