I am to the point were I need to get bumpers ready to install. I not sure what is the best way to go, repo's for $99.00 a piece or rechrome the originals for $269.00 a piece. Anyone have any input on the $99.00 one.

Thanks,
Todd

I got the repo one for my 67. Had to drill out the rivets that held the center el crapo bracket on so I could pitch it and bolt on my origional center mount. After that, it fit ok, just ok. The chrome on it is not the best, has kind of a yellowish tint to it. There is not a good chrome shop anywhere near here. Some day I'll send my origional to a reputable shop.

Rechrome the Originals. Check out Paul's Chrome http://www.paulschrome.com/
They did an awesome job on my originals. I have a set from Bumper Boyz if you are interested. The chrome was very good, but the underside of the bumpers were ugly.

I am very disappointed in all the modern chrome I have seen...in 93 I tossed my original rear bumper in the woods behind my house...it had a small crease in it...the chrome was fine. I ordered a new GM chrome front and rear bumper...they were around $100 then. They were okay, but they were pretty rough too...there are a lot of grinding marks on them. My car has always been garage kept and cleaned periodically, but even the GM bumpers have developed tiny rust spots on them. I was out in the woods behind my house recently and saw my old bumper, laying chrome side down in the dirt. I picked it up and wouldn't you know the chrome looked as good on it as the day I tossed it...the inside of it is a bit pitted, but the chrome still looks great...this speaks volumes about how good the chrome used to be compared to how good it is now. I was so impressed with the old original I brought it in from the woods and saved it. I will take some pics of it when I get time.

I received a set of the repo 69 bumpers from Rick's (through BelAirBob  )today. I didnt inspect them real closely, but thought they looked pretty good for a repo. Much better than ones that I have seen/bought several years ago. The chrome was pretty smooth, no grinding marks/sand scratches. The plating doesnt look as thin as some that Ive seen.

Of course, they don't look like a $250-300 nice rechrome job, but you can't expect them to for the price.
