Unreal Sep 23rd, 07, 11:13 AM Late 69's (after Sept. 1, I think) got the VIN sticker on the driver door. yellow69RS Sep 23rd, 07, 09:08 PM I think the location is right. I installed this repop decal when I restored my car the first time when I worked faster and my memory was much better. http://s210.photobucket.com/albums/bb291/yellow69RS/?action=view¤t=Doortag005.jpg Jeff Unreal Sep 24th, 07, 01:54 PM Maybe there's some confusion on what the "GM Decal" is. There was a blue foil one about 1-1/2" square that just has the GM logo on it. It was used on both doors in 67 and 68, but not 69. The one in Yellow69RS pic is the compliance sticker which was required after Sept 1, 1969. Supposedly the door frame was modified to include two horizontal alignment beads to accommodate the the Compliance sticker, but my October 69 car has what I'm almost positive is the original doors and it does not have these beads. The door had been jambed when I bought it, so the original sticker was gone. Yellow 69RS, is that an original door? It looks like it does not have the alignment beads, either. Interesting you bring up the alignment beads. My 02D has them on the doors. I believe them to be original because of the factory blue paint on the doors. 98blackburb Sep 24th, 07, 04:59 PM Good deal..................thanks for the info ..........no 69's have them....mine was made in dec. 68 steve's 69ss Sep 24th, 07, 05:05 PM But, I already ordered them:confused: yellow69RS Sep 24th, 07, 05:56 PM Maybe there's some confusion on what the "GM Decal" is. Original yes, to this 10E car no. It used to be red. I thought that the orignal door had the alignment beads. Jeff bertfam Sep 24th, 07, 06:27 PM FYI guys, the GM door decal wasn't used in 68. Ed Unreal Sep 24th, 07, 09:53 PM I'm with you Steve, I bought the GM sticker about 7-8 years ago, and it's been in my "Decal Envelope" ever since. I also have the Compliance Sticker, but haven't figured out how to duplicate the VIN. Mark Rossiter Jan 20th, 08, 05:45 PM Maybe there's some confusion on what the "GM Decal" is. Is it possible that they didn't use these stickers for the entire production run? I don't ever remember seeing these stickers on the door ends and I see no evidence (paint shadowing, glue residue, etc.) there were ever any on there. I have had the car since 1973, so I know a lot of what has happened to the car over the years, but not everything. Weave67RS Jan 22nd, 08, 01:54 PM I have a 67. Are both doors suppose to have the GM decal? JohnZ Jan 25th, 08, 02:42 PM Interesting you bring up the alignment beads. My 02D has them on the doors.
