Hi,
I searched for sway bar bolt size, but didn't find what I was looking for.
I am addidng a new 1 1/8" DSE sway bar to my 67 Camaro. The car did not orginally have a sway bar (L6), so I don't have the bushing bracket bolts to attach them to the frame. What size and thread bolts do I need? I know to use at least grade 8's.
Thanks!

OE for 1967 was 5/16"unc X 1-1/4" grade 5.
The holes in your frame should accomodate the 5/16" self tappers. If there was no sway bar from new, those holes won't have threads in them I don't think.
I expect you will find threads. I thought all were fitted with sway bars from new regardless of the engine option.
Grade 5 is plenty.

Thanks. Yeah, there are threads in the holes. I just didn't want to "test fit" a bolt and end up stripping them. I guess it's possible that it had one when new, but it didn't have one when I disassembled the front end.

OE were 5/16"unc X 1" grade 5. Many replacements were 3/8"unc because the 5/16" threads in the frame were often expected to strip.
Interesting....mine are 3/8-16, but it's possible someone drilled and tapped them to that size.

It appears that changes must have been made during the 1969 model year.
The 1967 and 1968 AIM (both UPC 3-A5) shows 9420603 as the correct bolt and cross references through AMK's catalog as a 5/16-18 X 1-1/4" with a 1/2" hex.
The 1969 AIM (also UPC 3-A5) shows 9431970 as the correct bolt and cross references through AMK's catalog as a 3/8-16 X 1-1/8" with a 9/16 hex.
On that page in the 69 AIM, there is an "ADVANCE REVISION" that I can't read, except that I think it was made on April 24 1969 and/or Sept 19 1969 (?). I'm guessing that could be the change in thread size.
The subframe on my Camaro is from a 67, and I have a 69 subframe in my yard too. Both are 5/16" threads. I just double checked..
Is yours a late production 69 or have a subframe that might be from a 69-74 Nova?

Aha! - good point, Steve. My subframe is from a Nova - I forget what year.
