Is the cutout size for a AT and a MT the same on the compartment floor tunnel of first Gen. camaro's?

NO. AT floor shifts got a small round hole (a little over and inch) near the drivers side front of the tunnel. MT got a large 4x6? inch hole centered over the shifter.

Kevin is right for 69 (and 68 except the manual shift hole is a little smaller and not torch cut).

67 floor shift automatic and manual shift hole is in the same place. The 67 auto floor shift uses a linkage rod, so it needs the same hole. 68-69 are cable shift, hence the small round hole Kevin mentioned.

Johnny - It has been a long time since I've seen a 67 factory floor shift auto, but I don't recall a boot. All the ones I've ever seen were in the console with the chrome lever up through a slider.

it is # 3. I am having a big challenge trying to find one, so I thought since the MT one is the same size I could use it.

Are you putting a boot over it, or the console?

I'm installing it just like the diagram, then placing the console on top.

I have a drawing on my web site that I got from a Camaros.net guy a few years back . . . pretty accurate. I used the measurements to convert my 2 speed PG column shift to a 3 speed floor shift . . . www.geocities.com/jjknotts . . .hope it helps

Call Firewheel Classics, they have the correct boot for the automatic, it goes on the bottom. 1-800-711-0125

Yes I saw that they have the boot, thats great.
I need the retainer that goes on top of that boot. I think my best bet is to ask guys on ebay selling shifters if they have the retainer lying around.
