Appears to be a Firebird VIN. The cowl tag is for a 68 Camaro convert, but not the VIN.
Eric Kammerer Sep 24th, 07, 08:21 PM Firebird.
bertfam Sep 24th, 07, 08:35 PM Yup. Another Camarobird on ebay.

Camaros-n-Chevelles Sep 24th, 07, 10:21 PM Maybe the Camaro was stolen and retagged with the Firebird V.I.N. Tag.

TomLS767 Sep 25th, 07, 07:36 AM Did he make the proper corrections on the vin # ???
I guess I'm have different thinking about these cars. I see everything wrong with selling a firebird as a Camaro without being honest about it, but, on another thread about a firebird/Camaro, the guy comes right out and tells what it is.
I just see that as an improvement on a firebird. Oh well.

Dude...Please give our cars the proper respect....It is spelled CamAro.....with an "A" not an "E".....thats kind of a cardinal sin around this place.
Thanks, Dan
Rsmith1969 Sep 25th, 07, 08:58 AM My guess is Definet Firebird with a Camaro Trim tag added as the add states ---new sheetmetal...both front fenders, 1 rear quarter, rear light panel, floor pans etc.
9T4Z Sep 25th, 07, 09:01 AM CamaroBird or not... for the money he's asking and the condition of the car... not bad.
I would not be embarassed to cruise around in the car... wouldn't take it to car shows.. but local cruise in's would be fine with me.
If I was not up here in the Great White North I wouldn't hesitate to drop by and see it.
cheers

Hey No Problem TOM.....the capital "A" was just stressing which "A" I was talking about.
I just thought that I would help you out, since I have noticed that you had mispelled "CamAro" in another post as well....
Sorry to hijack the thread....

As long as he doesn't put any emblems on the car spelled like that he'll be ok, Dan. lol
bertfam Sep 25th, 07, 06:19 PM Okay, I just got off the phone with Keith (the owner of the Camarobird in the auction) and we've discovered the car is indeed a 68 Firebird. The good news is that the hidden VIN, dash VIN and title VIN all match, so there's no problems with the legalities. The trim tag was added at some point and it's from a 06B Camaro. He's going to let everyone in the auction know what we found and post pictures of all the VIN's.
Another morphed car, but at least this one's not going to be a paperwork nightmare for the new owner.

dropit69 Sep 25th, 07, 07:14 PM but didnt he state that the title is a camaro title?..thats a problem !!
bertfam Sep 25th, 07, 07:53 PM The title has the Firebird VIN, but it does say "1968 Camaro". I'm no authority on title descriptions, but I don't believe that to be a problem. Most titles just say "1968 Chevrolet" or some such vague description. Someone who's up on title descriptions should be able to answer that question.

dropit69 Sep 25th, 07, 07:58 PM oh guess i read it wrong i thought it stated that title from georgia was for a camaro ..hmm as long as title has the firebird vin i think id be cool id buy it
Eric Kammerer Sep 26th, 07, 07:12 AM He also edited the auction description and thanked Ed for his help. Not many on ebay like that...
It's at $11K now, with over 3 days left. Depending on the last minute developments, it look like someone has the potential to get a pretty decent vert at a good price.
Personally, I like the 'birds almost as much. Too bad there's so much Camaro envy :)
