I need a measurement from the closest indent on the tranny tunnel floor to the start of the shifter hole

Looks like in the picture it's about 2" from the indent. Mine is around 4" (cut by previos owner) that would explain why my console is not as far under the dash as original.
I wonder how it will look when I get stock guages put on the console.:sad:

Would welding in a patch and cutting more out in the proper spot fix it up?.

Here is the shifter hole reinforcement. The picture was taken from under the car looking up. I snapped it the last time I had the transmission out to change the clutch.

thats a great pic Steve! That must be part of the floor pan because I have never seen that part.
