Can Someone Tell Me What Exactly These #'s Are For Nor( Xxxxxx ) Bdy. I Have A Very Nice Project Going And I'm Wondering About This. My 69 Came With Some Diff. Things For A X44 And Would Like To See Or Find A Little More About This Car. This Car Came With 5 Leaf Rear Springs, 3/8 Gas Line, 12 Bolt 3:31, Black Hounds Tooth Deluxe Interior, Tilt Steering, No Extra Gauges (speed & Fuel Only), Built 1st Week In Sept 69, As I Was Removing The Rear Quarters I Noticed That The Car Had Some Sort Of Colored Stripping That You Would Find On A Drag Car. I Really Only Think That I Have A Unusual Ordered Car And I'm Just Lucky To Have Those Extra's As Options, But Its Nice To Look In To The History.

Mike, does you trim tag ACTULLY say xxxxx? That position is the body number, a sequential number assigned by order per plant.

Can you provide the full trim tag info? or a pic would be better. The 12 bolt with 3.31 gears and 5 leafs is confusing on an X44. Can you provide the rear numbers too?

You should read these two pages

Mike, saw your other post. With the rear swapped at some point in the past, I would say your car was a 307 or lo-po 350 model, assuming there are no big block tells. Your car has a nice combo of extras! build it the way you like.

You Know The Date Is Only Off A Bit On The Rear #'s And I've Read Some Things Lately About Date Ref. And I'm Seeing That Some Rear Dates Are Not All Before Build Dates. Are You Seeing That At All? Because The Rear Really Looks Like It Was Never Out. Bs1024g2 Thats The #'s On The Rear. Been Reading Some Of The Chat On Supercar And There Has Been Some Talk Of Some Supply Problem Or Something In That Order? And No Thats Not The #'s Xxxxxx Its Nor114782 Bdy

Mike, with the car body being built by Fisher the 1st week of Sept and the rear assembled (not in the car!) during the last week of Oct, that means that the body would have had to sit for close to 2 months before they finished the car. That is not going to happen. Towards the end of the 69 run, it is possible for GM to just grab parts to finish cars, so mismatched parts can happen, but the dates would have still been prior to 2nd week of Sept. Sorry
