Hi, I have a 1992 Camaro RS with a 305 V8 TBI "E" code engine. I am going to put on an open element air cleaner soon, and i am not sure how much of a drop I need for the new air cleaner. I plan on getting a K&N X-stream Air Cleaner, the 14"x3" I want can come in a 1-1/4 in., or a 7/8 in. drop. Please tell me if you know anything about this, either PM me or just post away!!!

there's no point in getting an open element air cleaner and keeping that stupid riser that spaces the air cleaner off the throttle body. get rid of that, and you should be able to use a non drop base air cleaner- and MAYBE even a 14X4 air cleaner element in there, but probably a 14X3 is the biggest that will fit. if you can get a 1" drop base to go on over the TB, then you can get a 1" taller element in there.
