Ok with the $$$ for original PF25 oil filters hitting $200 and the square mesh A212CW at crazy prices....
this guy has gotten a lead on nice looking reproductions... problem is he is bidding them out one at a time and charging brutal shipping costs....
I would love to find out his source and maybe we can organize another group purchase like Jeff did for the T3 repro headlites....
Anyone feel like "Dick Tracy"?

For one thing, PF25 was not the first oil filter assembly line installed on 1969 Chevys. PF29 http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ih=013&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWA%3AIT&viewitem=&item=230176101933&rd=1 was used before the PF25. Another thing, that PF25 is the Canada version, see the French printing and the embossed bottom? Dont know what to say about the square mesh air filter. Only thing I can suggest is to wait and see if the price goes down or you can score one on a slow week. Havent seen any reproductions on the usual sites yet.

John I thought the PF29 was done by late 68... don't know anything about the "french" printing... I have seen PF 25 without any french on it... made in Canada or not..
just a thought

Gary,
As far as oil filter dates go, the PF29 was still in use till January or February of 1969 from what I understand. As for the PF25 on e-bay, it's only this filter that has French (or Canadian) printing on it, most others I've seen don't. On the right side of the picture, below the PF25, it says ~ FILTRE A HULE. That means Canada to me, and that isn't assembly line correct. Also from my swap meet contacts I have found that most of the filters that have the embossed lettering on the bottom of the filter are coming from north of the border. Many of the bulk D308R caps that are being sold by volume swap vendors will have very tiny "Made in Canada" lettering between the Delco and Remy on the inside too. Same deal on the red D327R caps with brass contacts. The US D327R caps came with aluminum terminals. I have no problem with "Made in Canada" genuine Delco or AC products, I just don't like to see them being passed off as Old Stock and the buyers paying exhorbatant prices for them.
