What type of sealant is used under the stainless roof rail weatherstrip channel when mounting to the body?( I don't mean the roof drip rail)I'm ready to install the channel & I already have 3M weather strip adhesive for the weatherstrip but nowhere does it say what is used for the channel.

The factory used a 1/16" or so adhesive strip much like the sealing strip you can get to seal a pick up truck cap. I was planning to use to use that, but decided my original was in good enough shape to reuse. I just used a little 3M strip caulk in a couple of areas.
