just curious, but if you were welding on a car with wiring in it, would you need to do anything special to prevent any sort of electrical mishap? if the battery is disconnected is there any chance of frying anything with the welding current?

i'm about to put in new wiring, but i know there will be some future work on the quarter panel, and don't want to have a meltdown of electrical component somewhere.

thanks,
Rob

There shouldn't be any problem with the battery disconnect as there's no path for the current.

As a precaution, also pull the radio fuse and and electronic ignition module, distribuitor , etc. Cheap insurance :)

Yep, disconnect the battery and keep the welding ground clamp close to the area being welded.

No problems, should be good to go!

same as above, current takes the path of least resistance. Keep your ground close to your welding area and you should have no problems.
