First stop cussing even with ## signs! The site blocks very few words.... Next you don't ever cut any length from your carpet only trim width to fit. There are pads glued to both sections of carpet, they are for your feet. The back carpet section fits under the front seats and gets holes for the front bolts of the front seat near the end of the carpet. The front carpet has a sewn on vinyl edge that overlaps the rear carpet and the bolt area. The rear carpet should go just beyond the hooks for the rear seat bottom... http://www.camaros.net/pnwcc/DjD/interior/PICT4226a.JPG http://www.camaros.net/pnwcc/DjD/interior/PICT4225a.JPG http://www.camaros.net/pnwcc/DjD/interior/PICT4219a.JPG stmeljes Oct 1st, 07, 05:52 PM First of all, my apologies...for swearing. Thanks for the pics, that helped. I started with the back piece first. I'm sure this was my first mistake. Now that I did that, the glued pieces fit at the bottom I thought like they were suppose to, but of course now my front p[iece is too short. I wonder if a upholstery shop can fix my mistakes by either taking everything out, and fix the cut holes for the back seat bottom OR extend my front piece... DjD Oct 1st, 07, 06:57 PM Depending on how you cut the carpet for the rear seat brackets you might be able to repair it yourself with carpet tape. You were right putting the back carpet in first but it really helps to trial fit each piece before cutting anything. I fit both for a test fit then pull it out and put all the seat and seatbelt bolts in place then put the carpet in place on top. When it is where I want it I cut where the bolts are or at least mark with finishing nails or something where to cut. Pull it out and remove the bolts and do the final install putting the bolts back in to hold things in place. Good luck with it and if you ended up with a rear section you can't use place a wanted ad in our classifieds and the classified forum, you might get lucky and find someone here with a extra piece, Wonder how that happens? ;) Oh, be extra careful around the door sills measure 3 times and cut once. The sill area is easier than the transition to the door jamb in the back and the kick panel up front... stmeljes Oct 1st, 07, 09:12 PM Well, I took the back seat back out...turned the carpet piece around (the right way) and what I had cut was under the rear seat or under the console....got lucky. Thanks for the help once again....:hurray::hurray: RamAirDave Oct 1st, 07, 09:24 PM With a molded carpet (yes, they can become "less molded" after sitting in a box for a while), you can set the rear foot wells pretty close and go from there. For how far back it extends under the rear seat, it doesnt really matter if the front section of the rear carpet is in the right place. Thanks for the help once again....:hurray::hurray: Cool deal... Unreal Oct 2nd, 07, 10:54 AM I would not cut the sides until you are SURE it is settled into the correct position. If the carpet is not totally set into the contours, or if the padding compresses a little, the width increases. If you've cut it prematurely, it may pull out from under the door sills or kick panels, or rear interior panel. |
