It is interesting to see how over 40 years ago somebody was probably having a bad day with the gang stamper. It looks like they had to try it 3 times to get it where it could be read (second one was too close over top of the first). I like unique things like this on a car.

Did you notice the "VOID" clearly stamped to the right of all the mis stampes?

this had to have been pulled from production and moved into some type of material review and was subsequently over ridden and place back on the assembly line>

any other scenerio's ??????

Yep looking at a few things leads me to believe this one is real, and more than likely someone's first day on the job...

There isn't very much metal left holding all that rust together.

Certainly would be a good start for the new fade - "patina." It's only original once.

I bet a new battery, radiator, coolant, fresh gas, PB Blaster, and this baby would rock & roll!

I think you may also have to turn the carburetor around first...

Its the less ordered option - BWQ - BackWard Q-jet. Didn't you see it on the option list?

You have to remember, these cars were built on a moving assembly line, if the guy had a problem with the stamping he didnt have much time to try to fix it or he would miss the next one. Or maybe there was someone training on the job and couldnt get it right the first time. Lots of things happen on a moving line. I've seen a lot of this and worse in 30 years of working at GM plants. If a job was messed up there was usually a floating repairman that would work down the line to fix things like this.
Its not always a drunk guy or an idiot that doesnt know what they are doing. You only have so many seconds to complete the job before the next one is there and has to be done also. Equipment breaks or malfuntions and the operator has to try his best to get the job done.
