After finding some scary things on the car to day I decided a complete overhaul is in order. So let the thrashing begin :D
Well it kind of started already and will continue in the am. In addition my welder went on order today. So by the time my welder get in house I expect to be down to just the body and rear.
I was looking for bracing recommendations. Considering i have to replace the left portion of the floor I want to make sure it doesn't flex too much.
I think I was going to weld some tubing from frame frame rail to one another. I also planned on making a tube to attach to the two front body mounts to one another.
Any other ideas to make sure the car stays in the same place it is in now?
:beers:

The only bracing that is needed (and needs to be done prior to complete disassembly) is a diagonal bar across each door way and two horizontal bars connecting the front and back of the bars installed along the door. You may want to hold off on connecting the frame rails in case you decide to do a full floor or you may need to get a new firewall. At this point its hard to tell.

Sorry to sound so Naive but I was going to leave the doors on.My hope was that having the pass door closed would help support the body.
Where would I weld the diagonal support rods?
Thanks:beers:

If you can leave the doors on then by all means do that! When they are closed they will act as good enough supports. It may just be hard to work around.
We welded the diagonals on the inside of the door way. The back was higher up and a little higher than the mid point of the door opening. The front we welded just outside of the rocker area since everything else was getting replaced.

Hi I am just about to cut out the rocker and I found some other issues. Suprise lol.
So what I found is that the torque box and the floor had completely rotted out at some point. Then it was repaired by welding in some square tubing and plates to what was left of the rocker.

So I am now more concerned about shift. I plan on bracing the door opening. Is thier anything else I can do?

Couldnt get the pics to work. I know this feeling. You get a project car and think it only needs a couple things and before you know it, it is a complete shell needing more than you had planed. I just blasted my 68 project car thinking it would only need a couple things and now I am going to replace just about every panel on it. I am also about to do some bracing as well. An X between door jambs and many other places.
What kind of welder did you get? I just recieved my new one also. Its a Miller 140.
Good luck with the project.
