I am wondering if the standard 69 coupe (non-RS) needs any modifications done to the front fenders to change it over to an RS. I understaand there is a Kit available to make an RS from a non RS car.

you are right, you can get the weld in brackets for inside the fenders that help hold the headlight buckets.

In addition to the weld in brackets, you will need to drill some holes in the inner fenders for the bell crank to pass through. Measurements were posted a while ago. If the search doesn't show and you get to that point, please post for the info.
