Over the next several weekends I plan to do a little panel replacement on my 67 'Bird vert. Am curious what the best order would be to do the following work.

Patch panels, actually pieces cut from old rear quarters, for each rear corner of my 1/4 panels. Basically 12-14" from the rear down to the body line. I used to have a 3-piece wrap around spoiler and in rusted underneath due to a lowsey install job by a "friends" body shop.

Complete rear tail panel. MOdified to accept Larry's new gas cap of course.

Trunk weatherstrip gutter complete.

Rear deck lid panel. The piece that sits between the trunk and the back window.

I'm thinking the best order would be - Deck panel, tail panel, rear 1/4 corners, and finally the trunk gutter??

Any thoughts???

Also, anyone ever replaced the deck panel on a convert ??? I figure I should weld in a brace in the trunk opening to keep the fenders from spreading out.

Thanks in advance ...

I am doing a coupe 69 but maybe this info will help. I am doing both full rear quarters, tail pan, and window to trunk panel. I think your order is good. My rear tail pan came with weather seal groove. rear quarters did not. Rear window to trunk panel I dont think you would have to do any extra bracing their is the panel underneath that usually holds the speakers that will hold it in place. I do know the tack welds are hard to get to since trunk lid hinges are in the way. If your are buying aftermarket parts I hope your rear tail pan is better than mine. mine is about an eigth of an inch too wide so I am going to have to cut it in half to fit properly. good luck hope this helps.

Thanks for the info. Where did you get your panel from?? I've heard there are two versions out there. One is an import the other is US. The US fits pretty well but the improt is terible. But then again my car is a Firebird and not a Camaro. Maybe that's a difference also.
