I have a 68 with a standard grill that is currently in the body shop. It has a repro fender from classic industries on the pass side. All off the trim and plastic center piece are new repros. I noticed that the headlight bezels will not even fit properly in the fender area and the rest of the trim doesn't seem like it's gonna fit flush with the header and valence panel. I thinks it's weird that a headlight bezel and fender from the same place do not match up. Any suggestions?

Did you get a RS fender by mistake?

The sheet metal piece that is welded to the front of the fender (where the headlight goes) is 3" to 4" deep to the mounting points on a RS. A standard fender has the mounting tabs about 1" deep to the mounting points for the headlight and trim.

I know I am speaking in general but.....repros are "loose" copies of the original. There are plenty out there that are near perfect, but MOST are not.
Sometimes you have to "massage" parts to fit. A little twist here, a little bend there.
One thing I can say for SURE, do all of this BEFORE the car is painted. Have every one of these parts fitting so when the car is painted, you have no surprizes and the car is fun to put together.
The time "wasted" checking and fitting ALL these parts will be VERY well spent, believe me.

Bottom line is..if you really want a sharp looking, clean resto, you must use NOS stuff..You can spot a repro-resto from 20 feet away..crooked grill moldings, big gaps, wrong bolts..face it..The real great show winners cost over 75K to build

I have had wonderful success "massaging" repro parts to look like original. That is the point of my post, NOS would be wonderful, but short of that, repro is all you have.
I have even had repro stuff re-chomed to achieve it.
Heck, sometimes the NOS stuff is pretty rough. It has ben banging around shelves for 30 years.
