Loking for opinions on using a wagner power painter to spray primer and guide coats.
I figure since it's going to sanded anyway the lay of it dioesnt need to be perfict.
Has anyone used one befor? Will spraying automotive products through it ruin the gun?

I'd be afraid to try it... it might spray too thick and the plastic gun parts might melt...

Don't do it the electric paint gun puts out too much & you will sand your self to death trying to get sanded down. I have used them on houses & believe me they put out a lot of paint in a hurry.

I would be very concerned mixing Thinner or solvent, FLAMABLE!! with an electric motor, SPARKS!!
A "prevalve" ( I think I am spelling it wrong) may be the way to go. It's a glass bottle with a replaceable aerosol propelent that you screw on. I have seen some very professional small BC/CC jobs done with them even.
NAPA auto parts has them under the "Balkamp" line.
NAPA also has the guide coat in a can under part number 7233 in the Martin Senour line.
Painters have used just any old aerosol can for years as a guide coat, thinking "I'm going to sand it off so it doesn't matter what I use". But it does matter, some paints or solvents can get soaked up into you primer and cause you trouble. If you can't get to a NAPA store there are many other brands, in fact on the prevalve also. The "Autobody store" on the net has them, plus a great forum at >> http://www.autobodystore.com/cgi-bin/config.pl? << Look in the phone book under "auto paint suppliers" and go to where the PROs go. Or just ask a body shop in town where they buy their paint supplies, this is where YOU want to go. Good luck. http://www.camaros.net/forum/smile.gif
