My locking column is not locking since the car is back from the body shop. I know that the key lock moves a rack inside that moves up to insert into the disc. What can I expect to find to make the column not lock? The preload spring is maybe broken? Anyone with an exploded view? Thanks.

Can you turn it completely to OFF and remove the key? I don't know about the inner workings of the column, but sometimes the linkage coming from the trans can get out of whack and cause problems with the column lock.

I took the wheel off. It was nothing but I am guessing, dust that was keeping the locking bolt from sliding all the way up. I lubed it and it seems to work fine. I was expecting worse on this old car.

Tell me about it. I just read on another thread that my repro rocker mouldings aren't going to fit well.
