We are excited to announce that Classic Chevy 5-Speed has been acquired by B&M Racing & Performance. The impressive line up of B&M Companies includes B&M Racing and Performance Products, McLeod Industries, Hurst Performance Products and now Classic Chevy 5-Speed. Classic Chevy 5-Speed will retain the same name, the same knowledgeable staff and will provide the same level of excellent service.

With the horsepower of B&M behind us, we will have access to state-of-the-art R&D capabilities as well as the added expertise that will allow us to develop new and better Tremec transmission conversion kits.

We look forward to helping the Team Camaro members with all of their Tremec 5 & 6 speed transmission conversion kit needs.

Cograts With all due respect to a site sponsor please allow me to play the devils advocate here.
1) Do you expect this acquisition to have an increase or decrease in the retail cost of your products?
2) Do you expect to see any vendor changes in you transmissions that may effect the quality?

Thanks for the nice comments.
XLexus- Very intelligent questions.
1) The aquisition will not have an effect on future pricing decisions.
2) We do not expect to see any changes in vendors.

I fear that we will see an increase in pricing. Now that B&M will be running the R&D, more than likely we are going to see the individual components become stronger and therefore, the an increase in material costs, which will have to be made up some how. I am sure B&M is not just going to "EAT" the costs. Plus, the time and reaources of R&D itself are going to trickle into the overrall product. This time and effort is going to have to paid for, Right?

Jeff... how's the 62-67 Nova hydraulic clutch conversion project coming along? Any progress on your swap?

Charlie, I don't think we can just assume that. B&M has been on a drive to become a player in the manual trans market, thru acquisition. They have purchase several company's to do this, including McLeod. CC5S has always worked very closely with McLeod and used many od thier products in thier kits.

CC5S has been a small company with a great attitude.
Now they will be part of a bigger company, but I don't think that attitude will change.

I suspect the additional engineering resources will allow CC5S to develop more and better solutions for more vehicles. Kits for more types of cars, more 6 speed stuff, things like that.

I see this as being a good thing!
It will give CC5S greater resourses for R&D, marketing of specific products, & the opportunity to offer a wider range of conversions, accessories, & exposure to the hotrodding world in general.

I'm waiting to hear from GM Jim too, I have dealt with him a few times & he is a true asset to the company.

Paul :beers:

McGoo and JimM have hit the nail on the head. The customer focus of a smaller company with the resource of a larger company to do bigger and better things in the future.
As I write this GMJim is physically driving from his home of 30+ years in the Toronto area across the US to permanently move to Southern California with his family (he is somewhere in Texas at this time and should arrive in So Cal sometime Friday afternoon). He will be located full time in the CC5S offices to better help all of the Team Camaro members. I am sure he will chime in here when he gets settled.

Question If you accept that the acquisition will add to quality, with the additional Purchase power and R&D funds of B&M..
Can we expect a deep discount on the current inventory? Seems like it would be foolish to not wait for the next Gen trans without one.

Xlexus-
Classic Chevy 5-Speed sells Tremec brand manual transmissions (we do nt sell B&M brand automatic transmisions). B&M is not buying Tremec, they are simply buying CC5S. Therefore, all future changes/versions to Tremec transmissions will come solely from Tremec.

Any R&D input from B&M would come in the form of helping CC5S desiging new add-on parts to our Tremec transmission packages (like shifters, etc.).

I hope this answers your question.

I think congratulations are in order. It is always good to be recognized by bigger companies enough that they want to buy you out (unless it's to eliminate the competition)

With that said, since my winter project is replacing the 700R4 in my 69 with a CC5 Tremec kit, is now (or soon) a better time to buy or wait until January when I plan on doing the work? Any chance of a last minute group purchase before the takeover? (hint, hint) :)

Hello everybody!

I made it! 5-1/2 days on the road pulling my hauler with my 69 Z/RS in it was a treat. I can truly say that I helped the oil companies meet any profit goals they were trying to meet this year. I arrived about 20 hours before the fires started and Tuesday morning I awoke to find 2 inches of ash on my truck. I was pretty much surrounded by the fires but luckily they didn't get close enough to threaten my house. As Jeff said, we don't expect to see ANY changes that will affect the service and pricing in place now. We look forward to working with B&M to make CC5S a bigger and better company. Having B&M backing us simply means that we can concentrate on customer service and R&D with more intensity and I will have their design and engineering staff assisting with new and better products. Give us a call and you'll see we still answer the phones and still provide the service we always have. I will apologize though for the gap in my email replies and attention to this and other sites the past two weeks. I hate moving!
Later
Jim
