DOES ANYONE KNOW IF A 74 REAR 3 PIECE SPOILER WILL FIT ON A 73 CAMARO?

The rear sheetmetal on the second gen (70 to 81) Camaro never changed. Therefore, you can use any year spoiler on any year car.

The rear sheet metal on the 2nd gen never changed?? huh?? That's news to me. '70 - '73 use the same rear 1/4's and tail panel, but they don't interchange w/'74+

SO THE END SPOILERS DON'T FIT ON A 73? WHY NOT?

The 70-73 spoiler ends are different that the 74-81's. You should be able to use the 74-81 ends on the 70-73 but you can't use the 70-73 ends on a 74-81. The 74-81 ends come to a point as they go down the rear quarter and thats because the tail lights on the 74-81 wrap around the rear quarter so you can see them on the side of the car. The 70-73 cars didn't have the tail lights that wrap around and so the spoiler ends do not come down to a point but cover the whole area from the point to the tail light panel. Basically the 74-81 ends are pointed while the 70-73 ends are wide as they cover the whole part of the quarter from the point to the tail light panel. So if you tried to put the 70-73 ends on a 74-81 it would cover the part of the tail light that wraps around the corner. Hopefully this makes sense.

Thanks for the more detailed info 68SS396. I was too general in my response. Also had Pontiac on my brain. Since Pontiac left the tail lights in the tain pan, any years spoiler will fit on any year car.

jcarnut 73. The 74 will fit but keep in mind its not correct for the earlier models. Gheatly, good point about the Pontiac's. I didn't even think of them in this. Even thought the tail lights don't wrap around on them they are still different than the 70-73 Camaro's as the rear quarter shape is different on the Pontiac's. I know you didn't say they were the same, just something I thought of as I was writing this

Just to muddy things up a bit more...the center (trunk lid) peice is interchangeable between the TA and the Camaro.... except....the very early seventies Camaro that had a short one-piece spoiler as an option.
