: Wanna "Toon" your car???
Kokamo Oct 18th, 07, 03:46 PM Hey guys, I feel like cartooning a few cars in the next few days. I recently got Photoshop CS2 and am just trying to get a grip on how it works. Keep in mind I am by far from an expert since I've only had it a few days, so bear with me.
I'll take the first five people to post their cars on this thread and I'll manipulate it into a tooned car. It takes a little time to do a decent job so give me a little while.
The first one I did is a purple 69 belonging to Redfox here on TC. On his car I didn't do any kind of color work or shadowing, so it's real basic. The second one is of my personal 90' Chevy truck. I have one of my 69 as well, but I havent quite figured out how to edit out the grass on the tires.
A quick note, if you post a picture, make sure it's a clean, high resoluton picture taken 90 to 45 degrees from the side of the car. Keep in mind, the bigger the better.
Also, if you Photoshop gurus can give me a few tips, please chime in.
Thanks,
Joe

Camaro67_rcl Oct 19th, 07, 05:42 AM Nice job - looks good.
X33D80 Oct 19th, 07, 07:47 AM That's nice! I realized when selecting a photo that I didn't have a recent side shot of the car finished with the wheel well trim, the interior finished (both front seats showing) and the front bumper attached. Knowing that the "tooning" would distort everything I figured it would still look good, and it does.
Thank you,
Andrew
GregD Oct 19th, 07, 08:48 AM Joe,

Kokamo Oct 20th, 07, 03:49 PM Russ.....I didn't have time to do any textwork, I might get to that later on, I spent most of my time editing out the reflection of the yellow stripe on the door. How about this?................

Blown69RS Oct 20th, 07, 07:24 PM excellent work Joe. You're "just learning" to do this?? I do a lot of work with Photoshop, so I know the amount of effort just to isolate the car from the background.... thanks much!!:beers:

Kokamo Sep 24th, 09, 01:30 PM I know this is kinda an old thread, but I still play with it every so often.
Here is a real quick one of my 69 Camaro. I didn't spend a whole lot of time on it. It could use some color work, some shadows and do something else with the wheels...... and then my best one so far....my buddies 2010 Camaro SS.......
http://i198.photobucket.com/albums/aa282/Kokamo44/Toon%20Cars/IMG_4620copy.jpg

Just looking at the 2010 Camaro makes the first ones in this thread look silly as hell.
Oh well, thats what happens when you learn how things work, and I still need to learn alot.
Thanks for your time guys,
~Joe

http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y168/cruiser_ss350/67%20Resto/DSCF2023.jpg
Another view, like I said project so you can have some fun. It's going to be two tone the base color it is now and gloss black on the top of the body line.
http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y168/cruiser_ss350/67%20Resto/DSCF2020.jpg
Two tone is like this but black on top and my Prowler orange on the bottom. Would be intresting see what you come up with.

PROZ11 Sep 25th, 09, 11:24 AM I just had to give this a try with my car after seeing the other cars. I've never attempted anything liek this before so my didn't come out as "cartoonish" as the others. I gave mine the muscle machine look. LOL. I'll probably give it another try when I have some time.
And people said my motor was too big for the car before... LOL
How's it look??
